Biomass Fuel Combustion Method Selection
Biomass Fuel refers to fuel like crop straw, wood chip, sawdust, peanut shell, corn cob, rice straw, rice husk, straw bran, tree branches and leaves, hay and compressed pellet. Biomass boiler features big heating surface, high thermal e ciency, little fuel leakage, separate air chamber, su cient burning, variable frequency control and PLC automatic control, etc. The selection of combustion method for biomass fuel shall be based on moisture, size, ash and slagging property.
Biomass fuel combustion selection
(1) When the moisture as received is less than 15%, size is less than 3mm, and ash is less than 3%, the suspension combustion by wind spraying shall be adopted. If slagging R2≤1.5, a cast iron xed grate is ok; if slagging R2> 1.5, water-cooled xed grate is ok.
(2) When the moisture as received is less than 15%, size is 5-50mm, and ash is 4-20%, layer or uidized combustion by mechanical feeding shall be adopted. The combustion equipment can be chain grate. If slagging R2> 2.0, reciprocating grate is a must. If biomass boiler capacity is over 14MW and slagging R2<1.5, bubbling uidized bed or circulating uidized bed is ok.
(3) When the moisture as received is 20-50%, size is less than 10mm, and ash is 1-5%, wind spraying plus layer combustion
shall be adopted. The combustion equipment can be cast iron xed grate or chain grate. If boiler capacity is over 14MW, land slagging R2<1.5, bubbling uidized bed or circulating uidized bed is ok.
(4) When the size is 50~150mm, slagging R2<1.5, chain grate or inclined water-cooled grate is ok; if slagging R2>1.5, reciprocating grate is ok.
(5) Biomass fuel like straw shall be shredded into pieces with size less than 50mm. If slagging R2<1.5, chain grate is ok; if slagging R2>1.5, reciprocating grate is a must.
