Participation in the 11th Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Expo
Taishan Group, a leading manufacturer of power plant boilers, attended the 11th Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Expo in Ukraine. This prominent international exhibition focuses on the effective utilization of renewable energy and alternative fuels, attracting over 100 exhibitors and 8500 purchasers from 20 countries.
Biomass Power Station Boiler: A Sustainable Solution
A biomass power station boiler, also known as a biomass power plant boiler, generates electricity and heat by burning biomass fuel. Suitable fuels for these boilers include wood chips, residues, and other types of biomass. The biomass power station boiler operates by heating water to high temperatures under pressure, producing steam that powers a turbine connected to a generator.
Types of Biomass Fuel
Woody biomass from forests constitutes the majority of current biomass fuel. This includes compressed by-products from the forestry industry, such as sawdust, bark, and small diameter wood, which are processed into pellets and briquettes. Other biomass fuels include firewood, charcoal, waste paper, wood-derived waste, and agricultural waste. Additionally, residues like manure, sewage sludge, and other degradable waste are effectively utilized in biomass boilers.
Biomass Fuel Storage and Utilization
Biomass fuel is stored in a bunker before being transported to the biomass boiler. In a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant, the steam generated from the biomass power station boiler can be used for urban area heating through a district heating network or for industrial processes in nearby facilities.
Renewable Energy Sources
Renewable energy sources include biomass, solar energy (both photovoltaic and solar thermal), geothermal energy, wind energy, wave energy, tidal energy, ocean thermal energy, and hydraulic energy. Biomass is unique among these sources as it contains organic substances. The existing power generation systems for fossil fuels are also suitable for biomass fuel, making the transition to renewable energy more feasible.
Advantages of CFB Biomass Power Station Boilers
Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) boilers provide the best solution for biomass power generation. CFB boilers offer wide fuel adaptability, low environmental impact, and are ideal for direct combustion of biomass. These boilers are compatible with a variety of fuels, including low-grade charcoal, biomass, sludge, sawdust, and industrial waste such as waste plastic and tires.
